but seriously, the other pages are much more fun!

As you’ve made it to this page of the web site I guess you may be wondering what I did prior to writing children’s books, so here’s the (very) abbreviated version! If you’re here by accident feel free to read the page, or press the back button quickly!

I went to South Downs, a further education college, to complete my A Levels where I did well - though I’m not claiming to be a model student (few teachers were from what I heard in various staff rooms!). From there I went to  Oxford - Trinity College, to study History and Economics.

On graduation, after a false start in banking - the less said the better - I completed my teaching qualification (PGCE) back at Oxford and then started my teaching career in the state sector in Hampshire. First at a school teaching 11-18 year olds and then moving to the 16 plus Further Education sector.

During my teaching career opportunities arose to become an examiner (somebody has to mark the exam papers) write text books & teaching materials and set up schemes to get more students from FE colleges into Oxbridge. However, the achievement I’m most proud of was when I was nominated by some students for the Pearson Teaching awards. To my surprise, not only did I receive a very nice card about my nomination but was awarded the FE Teacher of Year for London and the South East in 2012.

Thanks for reading, hopefully not too boring or too long - I hope you enjoy my children's books as they’re bought by choice, the text books more of a need to read for the exams!
